Indie Artists

I grew up in the 60's -- Beatles, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Woodstock.

These days, there's a whole new generation of talented independent musicians out there. Some are out to make it big; some are staying local.

This is list of independent (indie) singers whose music I have grown to love over the past few years. "Indies" are, for the most part, self-promoting and may be burning their own CDs and selling them at gigs, their web site, local music stores, or indie music distributors such as CDBaby.

Though they may not be familiar to you, it will be well worth your while to visit their web sites and check out their music. The closest you can ever get to most performers is 50 feet from the stage. If you go to hear one of these folks, likely as not you can walk right up and shake their hands (or get a hug)! Most of them reply personally to their email from fans.

Some of the artists listed may no longer "technically" independent since they have signed with a major record label. However, I still am listing them here because of their dedication to their fans, and to their music for the music's sake.

An indie friend of mine once remarked on a fellow artist's ability to truely mean and feel every word of their songs. I find that gift in each of the people listed here.

If there is someone you think I should add, let me know. I'll take a listen.

(p.s. I haven't completed a bio for every artist yet, but I'm working on it. Please check back!)
